Jay was a saviour. Nearing the completion of my $1 million plus project I needed someone to guide me on how to handle issues with my general contractor. There were billing issues that involved holdbacks and overcharges. With Jay's determination, the General Contractor cleaned up all the billing paperwork to industry best practices and government standards. By doing so, he effectively enabled a clear understanding of what was owed. In addition, there were construction issues that he guided me through on how to best.
We were struggling trying to figure out how to make our small 2 bedroom house on a large North York lot work for our growing family. Jay helped us work through a wide range of possibilities for a potential renovation and addition.
Jay was very flexible in the planning process, helping us to go through a few iterations of the plan before settling on the final one, and saw us through the entire project by coming in for construction reviews at critical points in the contractors' work.
We ultimately ended up using one of the contractors that Jay introduced us to, and the quality of all of the work was exceptional.

…Our renovation is complete, and it is stunning! The new layout is perfect. On Jay's recommendation we added 5 (!) sun tubes and now have a tun of much needed natural light throughout the house.
Jay helped us find the perfect contractor - Hossein from Ideal Dream Homes - and we couldn't be happier with his workmanship and work ethics. We also asked Jay to do regular house visits while we were away. He came regularly to check on the progress and sent us detailed reports. The contractor was amazing, and Jay's presence gave us additional security that everything was going well. All in all, we have been extremely happy with every stage of this project, and we wouldn't have done it any other way.
We would recommend Jay Charendoff and House Calls in a heartbeat. We would not renovate or build another home without hiring Jay as our project consultant at the onset to avoid the losses we have incurred in this project. For busy people, it is not so much a luxury as a best practice to save money and peace of mind. Our home is complete now 9 months later and Jay has a standing invitation for lunch for life. 🙂
